Leakey's cafe and bookshop
One of my absolute favourite places on earth. This is Leakey's, in Inverness, it is just off from the river, tucked next to an old cemetry, and some art shops. It is an old converted church and is filled from floor to roof with old and rare second hand books. ONe can easily spend half a day in here browsing it's huge array of categories. As if that was not enough it has a wonderful cafe upstairs with homemade soup, bread and cakes, and a massive roaring log fire in the centre......if i could live here i would. Every time i travel up to Orkney, i leave an extra hour in between trains so i can go here for my lunch - i love it. This visit i got a Terry Pratchett book i haven't been able to find anywhere, a victorian book on Cockney Humour for my dad, and an amazing rare illustration book by Charles Addams from 1955 (he created the first Adams family illustrations i 1954) I'm very happy with them!
