Today's the day ...................... to know your onions

Last year in the market in Kendal, you could buy one of these gorgeous onion strings for £1. So apart from looking nice, you had about 1.5 kilos of onion to play with. That's probably the weight of the entire onion crop produced in our garden (they weren't very big!) and it makes you wonder if it was worth all the effort of growing them.

This year, however, we will have our new allotment to grow things in - so more space to expand the crop. And the cost of this string bought today in Kendal - £2. Quite an increase, I'd say .....................?!
