South East storm and a summer sunset

The South Easterly wind is a feature of life in the Cape. It usually blows from late October until sometime in February/March.

This year is no exception - this one's a biggie, with gusts estimated by the South African Weather Service at about 65km/hr - Gale Force. That's not mist you see - it's spray being blasted from the tops of the incoming waves.

The wind is battering at the house and the roof and windows are clattering their response. We've already lost some fascia boards and as it gusts, it's not hard to feel nervous about losing a whole chunk of roofing too.

Nice sunset though.
