Dénouement

Not a lot to report today. Started the day off on a fruitless errand, however en route I spotted something that I fancied buying. And buy it, I did. £2.50 well spent, I'd say.

Work was ...fine. Nothing more. Nothing less.

This evening someone recommended a film to me. She proceeded to tell me the whole plot of the film, up to and including the dénouement *.

Why do folks do that? If it's not my sort of film I really am not interested in the intricacies of the plot. If it is my sort of film, I really want to see the intricacies of the plot without prior knowledge.

I remember being told by a pal that Thelma and Louise was a stonking film and I really should go and see it. "What's it about?" I asked. She told me. The whole story. Including the ending. Cheers.

And then there was my old boss. Who really recommended The Crying Game. And told me what the twist was. So I was the only one in the Filmhouse who didn't turn to my neighbour and say "Hang on. Was that not a ....... Oh my god! Bloody Norah"

* although this look pretentious; the gratuitous use of a French word (complete with that wee slanty symbol thing), the film in question was in fact French. So I feel my use of this word is somewhat justified...
