Not another morning
I realised today that almost every weekday photo I've taken since the new year has been in darkness and while I'm largely happy with the photos, I've become weary of trudging round the street in the morning look for a glint of light in a window or trying to see patterns of light and shade on the buildings. Ach, it's probably just me not sleeping too well. Anyway, I'm reliably informed that by 17 February sunrise will be at 7.35 - just as my train is getting into Edinburgh.
Although I had taken photos this morning, they were all a bit twee and boring. Oh look, there's a big pink/purple sky over Arthur's Seat. Again. In any case I need to adapt back to taking photos in daylight so I took the camera for a walk around the lanes along Rose Street and Thistle Street. They're grimy and pretty horrible, which I suppose is why I like them. I enjoy just walking along and seeing all the wee businesses tucked off the main roads doing Christ knows what. Or seeing (and smelling) where the restaurants and hotels with their fancy frontages and interiors keep the trash. Expect to see more of them. Superficially similar but different.
