Legz Akimbo

At the mention of that title, I know one person who will immediately think of the School Theatre Group who appeared in the dark, and at times, disturbing comedy "The League of Gentlemen" on BBC2.

The bottle stopper was my Secret Santa present last term - I still don't know who got it for me, but whoever did has
a. encouraged me to drink more often because
b. it brings a smile to my face whenever I see it upside down in a bottle

That's my excuse for increased levels of consumption, and I am sticking to it.

Later, I intend to dive head first into the remainder of this bottle of JP Chenet.

For now, I have a document to read, ready for a meeting tomorrow, and a lesson to observe, for another meeting tomorrow. How do I observe from home? Lesson recorded. Which means that although I watched it at the time, I can refresh my memory again this evening, in the comfort of my office, with a cup of tea and no-one to disturb me.

Today has been good. It has involved lots of pupil progress, a degree of much needed cynicism in the staffroom, a bad case of Bohemian Rhapsody related tourettes syndrome in my classroom this afternoon ( a student making a multimedia product, included the song in their project, and like others in the room, was oblivious to the fact that he occasionally sang bits of the songs he was putting into his project. They are all plugged into headphones - legitimately - as you can imagine the noise with 26 students all using video and sound and having to test that it works) - I kept hearing occasional words and phrases...
"will you do the fandango"
"bizmilla"
"mamma mia"

It was entertaining, but a little bit worrying. But an interesting thing has happened in this group, that suddenly they seem to be doing what I want and making progress and relationships in the room have progressed too. Amazing the difference that a minor change to group structure can have. Or maybe the realisation that time is ticking and deadlines are imminent!

Now I have that song in my head again.

Deep joy.

Night all.
