Now that they've become celebrities
it's 'Step aside please.
No autographs. No photographs.'

And no, they will not be snapped
holding hands or posing in the pub
they used to frequent
before they had it so good.

They need the entourage.
The hangers-on. The bodyguards.
Privacy has to be guarded.

But yes, they will sell their stories
once they've parted.
The highest bidder will get the rights
to how they're coping
since becoming broken-hearted.

For the moment it's 'Step aside please.
No autographs. No photographs.'
Certainly not a word, a poem, a book
is to be written about them
until a deal has been struck.
