must try harder

At the end of the day, it gets dark.

Don't know about anyone else, but I really enjoyed my weekend!

Apart from the usual starter-for-ten of not having to deal the monotonous weekday must-dos, I had the added bonus of having some quality time with Mrs H who didn't have to work. We had not one, but two Costa Coffees together this weekend. Now maybe that's not so unusual for most of you out there, but it's a rarity for us to get much 'us' time, with the kids, jobs, church, hospital, heart physio, mother-in-law and the stress going on in our lives. So as James Taylor says, 'Shower the people....' you love with love. So that's what I did, well I showered her with coffee actually, but hey, Costa Coffee is Love.

We finished our weekend with our usual Sunday evening walk around Bushy Park with Dylan and sorted out everyone's lives into the bargain. It is funny how we can see clearly where others are going wrong and can table some sound advice and yet our own lives remain a mystery at best, if not a catastrophic mess. Maybe that should be telling us that what is mute advice anyway, is actually not so sound after all and is, in fact, tosh! Ah well, it occupied our conversation for over 45 minutes and made us sad, mad and glad probably in equal measures.

Fortunately, it matters nought what conclusions we draw beyond us as they are seldom shared beyond us. Consequently, the pearls of wisdom proffered between us are therefore completely worthless to anyone, and yet to us, their inclusion, although rarely of any personal consequence, is in fact priceless, as it means we are having the conversation, which could easily have not been the case.

So why the blip...well as we made our way back to the car, the sun was falling into the horizon dragging down the curtain on my weekend (who says London doesn't have great sunsets!) and i realised that in a matter of hours, my Monday morning would be beckoning. I had other stuff I had taken through the day, a few experiments, even some portraits of B, but this sunset, I thought, was rather beautiful.

No wonder it's called the monday morning blues.

PS - obviously best Large, but even better very large!
