Wet Winter Swan

Whooper Swans arrive en masse at Martin Mere reserve, escaping the harsh winter months of their Arctic homeland. This one looks rather fed up to be caught up in the Lancashire rain yet again.

The numbers are slightly down this year, perhaps due to many swans deciding that it's not quite as cold as usual. What the implications of global warming will be on such migratory species is not know.
