On the back of yesterdays blip, I'm remembering a children's story about Wee Sandy Dubh, he was getting in his mother's way so he was sent outside in his new blue shorts and red jacket and good shoes to play.

Whilst walking in the woods he met a tiger who threatened to eat him. Wee Sandy convinced him instead to stay slim and take his red jacket which would make him the envy of all other tigers, and the tiger did. Walking on his way Wee Sandy met a second tiger, this time Sandy bought him off with his shorts, and then a third tiger who Sandy managed to convince to wear his good shoes on his ears rather than eat Wee Sandy.

Thinking it time to go home and avoid more tigers Wee Sandy headed back. Unfortunately he found himself up a tree with all three tigers at the foot arguing about which of them was going to eat him. The tigers decided to fight, shed their borrowed finery and chased each other round the tree faster and faster till eventually they ran so fast they melted into a huge pool of butter.

Wee Sandy jumped out of the tree, put his clothes back on, ran home and told his mother. She picked up her biggest pot and fetched back to the house as much of this wonderful tiger-butter as she could carry, where upon she cooked pancakes and Wee Sandy ate as many as he possibly could.

This is my version of the banned story 'Little Black Sambo'. Can't say I find it particularly racist itself. Sambo was a pretty brave fast talking kid when threatened. Change the name and you have a perfectly acceptable childrens' story.

I'm waiting for the Winnie the Pooh story about Winne getting stuck down a rabbit hole because he was so fat to be banned because it is offensive to fat people.
