Na Na Na!
If you don't go to a Grammar School / have any self respect in Northern Ireland you won't fully understand the importance of the Ulster Rugby Schools Cup.
The Schools Cup is the most prestigious sports competition in NI.
With the Schools Cup comes pride, prestige and honour.
The final is played on St Patrick's Day at Ravenhill, the home of Ulster Rugby and hallowed soil. The final is also broadcast on BBC 1.
Every school yearns to have its name on the trophy.
Every schoolboy longs to play at Ravenhill.
Last year's final was between Belfast Royal Academy (BRA) and Ballymena Academy. It was a fantastic match with BRA just losing out. I was a wee bit gutted cause the hockey team I play for are affiliated with BRA and the money that came with sponsorship etc for the Cup was going towards our new floodlights.
Anyway. My school, as one of the top Grammars in NI is eligible for competing for the Cup. They beat Portora Royal, Enniskillen back in December to get to the second round. 2 Weeks ago they beat Carrick Grammar (our local rivals). And this morning the lads beat Larne Grammar 19-7 to progress to the last 16.
They play Sullivan Upper next Saturday at home.
The team's good this year. All the training they do. Hopefully all their work will pay off. As its our last year at school everyone wants the boys to get to the final so we can all go see them at Ravenhill lift the trophy.
Na Na Na is our chant. It has caused so many problems as people who hate school publicly slag it off etc. But today nearly everyone's Facebook status was Belfast High Na Na Na!
Mon the Lads!
Ps I'm feeling lots better. My achievements today included getting out of bed and eating solid food.
