Sometimes I forget

Birders or Birdwatchers are a funny bunch, some will travel from one end of the UK to the other for a glimpse of a small brown bird such as this yellow-bellied flycatcher, but it's nice to just take the time and look at the 'common' birds in more detail.

This is a Dunnock, note the grey feathers (almost blue) and the red eye probably only viewable in large.

Chaucer refers to the Dunnock as Hegesugge which means "flutterer in the hedges", an apt description, but most often they are found in the lower parts of a hedge and in the undergrowth.
