Asylum
Lancaster Moor to be precise. I love this place. I think it is very beautiful, awesome and frightening and I would really love to go inside.... one day perhaps.
The County Lunatic Asylum, on Lancaster Moor, opened in 1816, within eight years, with a great demand for its services, extensions were built and by 1940 Lancaster Moor could hold 3,200 patients. As demand for mental care declined, the Hospital took in patients from the local infirmary which was running out of beds.
The asylum closed in 2000....
...and here it sits rotting away.
The main building is grade II listed
Asylum...A place offering protection and safety; a shelter
Couldn't decide which picture to use as my blip today, but decided the dark one was more suitable today. The other one is here
