Shiny stuff

Another bit of shiny stuff for the boat, I told the governor how much I'd "saved" by buying the head alone and getting an ash stave from the garden centre rather than buying a ready made boat hook but she was unimpressed.
I will start on the many little projects on the boat soon so we're ready if we have a mild March.
Art class today was a blast from the past - same teacher as I had 15 years ago - and just as bolshy.
She doesn't like watercolours unless they are psychedlic and loose, I prefer the essentially English variety with luminous colour and understatement (which incidentally I can't do so I am going to art classes). Anyway she got me looking at spaces and tone which I've tended to ignore doing pen and ink.
Maybe she'll let me do some exterior work instead of the planned iconography in oils that she has in store for us......
