I wondered why

I had wondered why someone would put shoes up into a tree, and my first thought was that it was a shoetree. On being able to get this today it made sense. Someone was obviously killed or fatally injured at this spot quite recently, and I think the trainers had belonged to them. That is all I can get as the wreath had lost all its written contents.

The tree with the shoes on is on the road between Chippenham and Melksham, at Beanacre, where the roadworks are at present, and this is on the left just before Beanacre

My thoughts go out to the family who have lost a loved one x
