Bye Bye Boilers, Bye Bye!

The twin boilers heating the water for the Abbey Heating System packed up in December (both of them in the space of a month!)

They are being taken out today and brand new ones put in - soon we will have warmth again! Today our sensors are showing that it is 6 degrees outside and 5.5 Degrees in most of the rooms inside! Brrr.

The Victorian cast iron pipes and radiators were installed in 1876 - and are still going strong. The gas boilers were put in about 15 years ago - beyond economic repair........they just don't build things to last the way they used to!
