Train Whistle Blowing.... All Along the Bay
The one thing I miss more than anything, is bedtime stories.
I have a box full of Children's Books that I cannot give away, or pass on, because I adore them and the memories they hold so much.
I have one or two downstairs, Alfie and Annie Rose are one of my favourites (Bernard was Tooli's first Love).
I love to pick them up and re-read it over again to myself, the lovely rhythm of the poems and the words. I hear yawns in my head and I feel a tiny weight against me snuggle in again.
Mog was another favourite, but I can't read Mog now without getting tears in my Eyes. Judith, decided in her wisdom of educating children, that Mog should come to a natural end. She does it so, so beautifully, that I can't even see the book in the Bookstore without breaking down in tears. I could never bring myself to buy it. Bad enough I cry over it in a shop, without bursting into tears every time I see it on the shelf at home.
Tooli and I read the Naughtiest School Girl by Enid Blyton, and I read Secret Seven with Boy. We moved quite quickly onto Harry Potter, and then Boy started fighting me for the right to read.....
Tooli isn't the biggest fan of the written word, but she is slowly coming round to it thanks to the Joy that is Celia Ahern , and Maryam Keyes, but I've yet to get her on to the meatier stuff! Although I suppose Henry V, is pretty high brow! I think what she needs is Non-Fiction. Tooli likes to learn, I've never see anyone actually USE school books the way she does! I could probably learn from her.
