Chalybeate

A chalybeate spring is a mineral spring containing salts of iron. The Tewit Well is the oldest known spring in Harrogate and is believed to have been discovered in 1571. Chalybeate water is said to have health giving properties and can cure the colic, the melancholy and the vapours, it made the lean fat and the fat lean.
