Jewels in the Rough

So beautifully mild today. This meant that I could take the remaining windows, which have been sitting in my front garden for months, to the allotment. I'm going to make them into a cold frame to bring on my seeds. No repeat of last year where there were trays and trays of seedlings and chitting potatoes in my kitchen, dining room and bedroom.

I also tackled a pallet which had been sitting in the back garden waiting to be torn apart. I will use the wood for the frame of the window/coldframe. No waste. Although my No.1 boy would like it if I did things slightly differently instead of collecting things from here and there to one day do something with.

I do love a building task, and now can't wait to get the wood to the allotment and start building. Lego for grown ups. There will be sawing, hammering, banging, screws and nails and maybe a plaster or two. I'm such a kid at heart.

I also took the chance to clear some leaves. Whilst the top leaves where black and slimy the underneath leaves seem to have preserved much of their autumn colour. They look glorious. They were soaked through which I thouhgt gave them more of a translucent feel.

After a quick head down dog pose to ease my straining back, I sat down with a cup of tea and admired all that I saw. So much potential, the promise of new growth, a bit of digging and planting. I love it.
