Quarry at Sunset

Well that's Monday almost over, just time for a gentle unwind towards bedtime :) and some blipping.

Its certainly getting lighter in the evenings. This was taken just before 4:30 as the sun went behind a hill and the last rays hit the quarry. As the quarry is orang-pink felsite, the orange of the sun makes it really stand out against the surrounding fields.

Up until last year the traffic to the quarry came through the far end of the village and past the school, after much campaigning a new road was built just outside the village which now routes the quarry lorries away from the centre of the village, reducing noise, damage to the roads and making it safer for the kids.

To be fair, when I think about it, the quarry owners do quite a lot for the village in an attempt to keep the relationship happy. There was a "fear" that dust from the quarry might be blowing into the school grounds. The quarry being a mile and a half from the school and blasting abot once a fortnight and never to the point where there is any visible sign of dust. However, the owners paid for planting to be put round the school as an act of goodwill. This now gives a nicer look to the school grounds and I think encouraged the start of the school garden.

I thought I had nothing to say tonight :) I surprise myself sometimes with my wordiness!
