Woman with Bowl
Print of R.C. Gorman's Woman with Bowl, with a bowl made in the same tradition as the bowl in the picture. Sadly the name of the bowl maker is not recorded.
Bought these two items on a trip to New England some years ago, in an Indian Trading Post. The woman behind the counter, a venerable Native American Grandmother, sang to us as we chose and she wrapped our purchases. Spine tingling and moving.
R.C. Gorman 1933-2005 was born in Chinle, Arizona on the Navajo Reservation. He was descended from a long line of sandpainters, weavers, chanters and silversmiths. A talented artist, his works hang in collections in many major galleries and museums in the US.
