Even though the owner stressed that they are having a clear out in readiness for a big project in March, there was plenty to catch the eye, including this rather grotesque goblin waterspout

The house itself belonged to the Wyatt family, architects, for six generations. They were responsible for such famous residences as Soho House, in Handsworth, the home of Matthew Boulton. Just to wander through the modern chaos of the antiques is to venture back in time, and see all manner of amazing gems.
