Childhood memories 4

This wash set belonged to my grandmother but I cannot actually say I remember it in use, though I have no doubt that it was. I do remember it being in my mother's bedroom throughout my childhood as a decorative item, sitting on the 'box' in the corner containing plastic flowers! (The 'box' covered the stair head to give headroom when ascending)

It is Royal Doulton but I am under no illusion that it is valuable - it is not hand painted, you can quite clearly see the transfers. It is complete except for the trivet in the soap dish. I normally use the bowl to hold plants and the jug and soap dish reside at the side of the bath - (not enough room for the bowl)

I have always loved it and never liked to say so. When my mother moved into sheltered housing it was left sitting on the landing in the old house, so I asked what she wanted to do with it. She said to get rid of it at which point I made my claim. She was amazed that I actually liked it!
