Crazy Thing in Japan

Most of students in Japan face very crazy situation. That is related to job hunting. University students in Japan should get a job in a hurry before graduation. So we visit a job fair to get more detailed information from each company's personnel officer.
We entry approximately 80 companies on average. What does this figure imply? It means we need to write CV or personal statements as many again.
I really want to run away from such stupid things if I can. What do you think about this situation around Japanese students? And what about in your country?
