Family Ties

This is a Storz Fire Dept. Connection. It is not the typical FDC that has been around forever, it is a 'newer' style (about 20 years, but in fire protection, that is new). Nearly all fire departments now use 1/4 turn couplings on their larger diameter hoses (above 2 1/2") Now, with this style they can hook up a 4" hose to the building. The purpose of this is to pump water INTO the sprinkler system.

I say this little gem on the side of a pub that Wandering Gypsie and I like. What caught my eye was not the connection itself, but what is on it. This was sold (to a fire protection contractor) by my dad. His company logo is on there, also is the logo of the manufacturer. Another clue that it was sold by my dad was he has them specially ordered from the mfgr, painted red. My dad sold the company a few years ago, and is no longer in the family which is a great source of sadness to me, so this was great to see.
