Tales from St Ives

My Spector

My main bass guitar - a 5 string Spector Eurobass.

I might start a series of these for my various basses, guitars & amps etc, it will be good practice to refine how to photograph them as fighting reflection & glare while keeping it all in focus is a bit of a b***h, so there was a bit of compromise here.

For the muso's & bass players out there:

- it is a Stuart Spector Euro5LX
- he top is an exotic wood top in Burr Poplar
- the neck is a graphine reinforced maple through neck
- the pickups are active EMG pickups
- fretboard is rosewood with mother of pearl crown inlays
- the stock preamp has been replaced with a John East preamp with active eq
- schaller tuners
- all gold plated hardware

The outcome of all this is a wonderfully rich sound, & is really flexible with the John East preamp, & is a dream to play.

All in all I love it & it has been my main bass for over a year now, leading me to finally sell my Warwick $$ which just never came out of it's case anymore.

I'm now off to use it in the St Ives Concert band - rehearsal starts in 25 minutes (with my brother Squiffy on baritone sax & Mrs Squiffy on French Horn or conducting).

Sorry to be a bore - but as you can tell I Love It
