Surprises
This is one of the windows in our local, village church. It was a lovely, frosty morning and I arranged to meet my daughter and grandson at the church for the family service.
When we arrived we realised it was the start of the Centenary Year celebrations! All the local dignitaries were there! Everyone was very welcoming and we were seated near the back (thankfully). Both my daughter and I were a little tense as Harry (aged 8months) is used to fun, noisy family services and this was rather serious.
We need not have worried, Harry behaved impeccably! He spent quite some time taking in his surroundings, was fascinated by all the singing, sat up attentively for the sermon but then realised it was not especially to his liking, so fell fast asleep!!
So many people commented on this adorable and well behaved baby that my daughter and I became quite smug!!
Apart from that the service was beautiful and it was really interesting to learn a little bit about the history of the church, especially as we are new-comers to the area. We signed the visitor's book and you never know, one day Harry's grandchildren may come looking and will know that Harry was the youngest member of the Centenary congregation!
We are now off to have lunch with the family and then we are taking our son back to Uni. I never like it when he goes back, the house seems much emptier somehow, but there you go....progress!
