King Duncan's Well
King Duncan's Well and burial place place in Inverness. Must have passed here hundreds of times but have never seen it until today as it's at a busy junction and there's no way you can stop here if you're in a car. As you can see there's no water in it even though there's been a fair amount of rain. But steps lead down to it. The plaque is in a sorry state and large bits are unreadable but it says that there's no evidence King Duncan was buried here or even near here and much of the story probably owes more to Shakespeare's "Macbeth" than to history.
