Inside the exhaust
I have pictured this before.
Now this is another unit and now the endcover has been taken off so you can take a look inside the so-called loadtunnel.
In the loadtunnel the end bearing is located.
We call it the "hot bearing" because around the loadtunnel is a temperature that varies between 590 and 650° C.
So two big fans supply cooling air in the loadtunnel to keep the temperature inside below 110°C.
At the left you can see the hole where I came in.
Outside is a board on which I have to hang my tag so anyone can see I'm inside.
We sometimes make jokes about closing the door when someone we don't like is inside... and start up the unit.
Well, we're only joking.
