Dendochronology

Well, sort of...it looks a bit like the year rings on trees.

This book's date can be identified easily by looking at the front or back page, you don't have to count the year rings.

I would find it very difficult to live without books and any electronic device just seems to lack the feel and beauty of holding a real book in your hand. They are works of art, especially these big books have had many hours invested in their creation. What I like in this book is that the pages have even been gilded.


I hope that I can pass on the love and respect that I have for books to my children and I also hope that when they move into their own places they will still take some books with them rather than just one little hand-held device that might keep their content but not the feel and look and works of art that some books are.

This is a great big King James Bible. I've very much enjoyed the readings that were recently on Radio where different actors read some of the stories and I enjoyed for what it was - really compelling story-telling regardless of belief.
