The Old Railway

What's this I hear you say? "Old Railway? It looks nothing like a railway!"

Well, when we were kids this path was known as the "Old Railway" coz basically that's what it was. It was one of Edinburgh's long, forgotten railway lines that had grown over with weeds and dog sh.. poop.

There was no tarmac, no lighting, no painted lines to keep pedestrians safe from errant cyclists. Just a dirt track with old railway sleepers bundled at the side. We loved it as kids as it was a great little rally track for our bikes

A part of me thinks its good that the council eventually got round to paving it properly - even 40 years later. However, we'll probably find out that they eventually got round to it due to some sort of health and safety nonsense. One kid too many probably fell of his bike and the PC brigade let loose.

Anyway, the snap could have been better (without the distracting lampost at the front), but I had to rest the camera on a wall to get the long exposure.
