Photographing the Forth Bridge
Took this pic of the Forth Bridge from South Queensferry this afternoon.
One of the most photographed locations in the UK, the cantilever railway bridge over the Firth of Forth was opened in 1890.
Built from 55,000 tons of steel and more than eight million rivets, it led to the phrase "painting the Forth Bridge" to describe never-ending tasks - based on the myth that when painting of the bridge had been completed, it was already time to begin the process again.
The current paint job began in 2002 and I think is due to finish this year. It is expected to last some 30 years.
Still, photographing the Forth Bridge is much more fun than painting it.
