Paths Cross

This is where, in Currie, the Kinleith Burn passes under what was the Balerno Loop of the old Caledonian Railway just before flowing into the Water of Leith. The railway line was opened in 1874 and closed in the late sixties. The track bed is now part of the Water of Leith Walkway.

The burn also used to pass under the Kinleith Mill lade here but, to drain the disused lade, it has been demolished at this point. The rocks in the foreground are remains of this second culvert.
