Fear & Loathing

so as you could probably tell from the exif data i had a bit of a play with the extra lens i bought the other day with the new camera. it's the tamron 70-300mm tele-macro lens. now i am still not sure of all that i do with my camera but as i keep pointing out it is a learning process and hopefully i will never stop learning something new.
i was impresed with the distance it covers and how close i could get to certain objects.
this is not the best shot i have ever taken and to be honest i got some better shots of a seagull that was perched on a railing. wish i had had something to feed it as it stood on that rail and posed quite happily for about five minutes while an endless stream of tourists stopped to shoot it.

this would have been a better shot if i had a tripod and had got a bit closer. tripod issue easily solved but not the getting closer. this was on the opposite side of the thames to me so i was happy to get close enough to just capture the shot. to get closer i would have had to walk on water. and i like to save that for special occasions.
so to make up for the lousy detail i blew out the highlights which made it look like it was shot in a studio with a white background. i like the effect but not happy with the pic. still there is always tomorrow. may go back to the marbles and play it safe. who knows.

again i have to sing blips praises. the amount of folk who wandered up to speak to me while i was out taking pics was incredible. it's a bit like owning a dog. by that i mean when you have a dog you go out for walks and most other folk you meet out with there dog(s) will at least say hello. it's like an unwritten rule that dog walkers generally end up speaking to each other. the same seems to be true about photographers or at least anyone walking about with an SLR camera. it was kinda cool having these folk come up and talk about the camera and any old shit really. good times, pity the weather is all grey and rainy.
on the upside it is the weekend and no time to be down about the weather.
have a good couple of days folks
