Saguaro In The 'Hood
Normally, one would expect to see these mammoth saguaro cactus out in the Sonoran desert. And you would be right...but this little town of mine has them in yards and neighborhoods in every corner. (It's illegal to remove a saguaro, by the way.)
This street has a median lined with these magnificent desert wonders. I'm sure they were planted that way - it would have been too coincidental for them to have grown just in that fashion for housing to have been able to be built around them. That section of town was probably built around 1970-74, so whatever the size when they were planted, they've had 40 years to grow.
Some of those saguaro are 30 to 40 feet tall. They come in all shapes and sizes.
