Poppy Skeleton
What a glorious day today! Went out for pruning, digging, hauling branches to the trailer and other odd jobs. Even sat in the sun for a while, a little in doubt wether I would prune the vines today or wait.
I decided to wait a little: to the end of january if the long-term forecast indicates no real winter. The earlier I prune, the earlier they will gorw and the longer the growing season for the grapes. This is important in opur latitudes. On the other hand, a late nightfrost wreaks havoc on young sprouts, so the later they start the lower the risk.
Ah well.
Wel'll see. Neither for income nor for a steady flow of alcoholic beverage ;-) I depend on them...
Out bliphunting I came across these left-over poppies. Such beautiful skeletons!
I even saw colors in january! These sturdy little flowers survided!
