Day19: Nepal

We are out!!! We managed to get onto the first flight of the day at the back of six with seat behind the pilots. Just to let you know the strip at Lukla is on a hill. You hare down this and drop off the end, it is like a carrier take off. Weave through the mountains and then onto the plains towards Kathmandu. We get to the airport and head straight to the hotel. They have bacon...eggs....sausages....cheese. We smell like shit and eat like we've never been feed before. We eventually settle back and think about having a shower. After that we head into Kathmandu for a mooch about an incredible city. That night we head off to the legendary Rum Doodle. Food was OK but after that amount of time in the hills it's the best steak you've ever had. Great night.

Bloke in the blue short sleeve shirt is Neal Short our climbing leader; he summited Everest in 2005. Behind him is Mostafa Salameh who summited Everest in 2007 becoming the first Jordanian to do so, he lives in Edinburgh now and is a really good friend. He's also since summited Denali, Aconcagua, Denali, Mount Elbrus, Vinson and Kilimanjaro. Before Mera he had been up Arthurs Seat.

I'm the guy at the front.
