I've just finished watching a documentary on Tom Petty (saw him in Glasgow in the early nineties). a really good documentary, near the end Petty says something along the lines of "They are trying to make rock stars on game shows now" I'm guessing his contempt for X Factor and American Idol is the same as mine.
