Moonlit Emma

Wednesday started off with a phonecall from my Mum that lasted for an hour or so, and what better way to start a day?
I felt really positive from there on in, which is good, cos January isn't generally a positive month and the beginning of the week since returning here hadn't been altogether positive.
Anyway, after that I got up and pottered about my room, as I like to do, then made a plan of action. Already sick of stodgy Burwash food, I went to bloor street market in the basement of the Manulife Centre shopping mall thing just a bloack away from us and bought ingredients for a stir fry and many other tasty things. Bought some other cheap stuff from good old Rabba's and returned through the snow with three heavy bags to eat my food!
Plenary session was with Bob McDonald, who opened my eyes to everyday science and space and all the changes that we should be aware of around us. He was very funny and attached (not physically) to his inflatable globe. Much beloved and well known by Canadians due to his TV shows etc.
So after that we went to the reception that there always is afterwards in Old Vic and I chatted to my new professor about what history I had studied and Blaire's right, he is like a grandpa.
A few of us stood outside the Old Vic building under the perfect half moon, with the lights from Emmanuel College Library shining out at us.
Emma and Sasha came back to our room for some tortilla chips (of which there is usually an abundance) and then Blaire, Hormuz, Zack and I headed off for a Vic event at the beautiful Gardiner Museum, right next door to Vic. http://www.gardinermuseum.on.ca/abtmain.aspx?TopNavImage=0
Semi formal, complimentary drinks and free food (MY FIRST POUTINE - minus the cheese) as well as entry into their special exhibit of four young Canadian ceramic artists. It was very ambient lighting with live jazz trio (pianists, as Blaire didn't fail to note, are effortlessly sexy. More so saxophonists, in my opinion, but we were both satisfied).
On the way back, I crossed into the building where U of T Drama Festival auditions were taking place and watched six or seven auditions for a couple of hours with the two directors of one of Vic's submissions and the two of the other submission. Each of the seven colleges submits and the Festival takes place in Feb. I am now stage manager for one, working alongside two other VCDS execs.
Full day!
