First cricket lesson
Not a great photo, but this is more of a diary entry about Ben's first ever cricket coaching session and I wanted to record it for posterity. I've signed him up for coaching at the ICC global cricket academy which is now in Dubai. I have explained that the benevolent looking coach is Dayle Hadlee, who used to play for New Zealand and has a very famous brother called Richard, but it is lost on him. In the background is former Pakistan test player Mudassar Nazar. He holds the record for the slowest ever test century. The whole thing is run by Rodney Marsh, one of my heroes when I was growing up in cricket mad York. Although he enjoyed it very much, I suspect I had a better time than Ben did. In time he may come to realise just how fortunate he has been today.
