Christmas Tree Recycling Project

For the past 25 years the local Boy Scouts have collected and recycled the neighborhood Christmas trees as an annual fundraiser. It's a great project where neighbors make a donation, the scouts pick up the tree, the adults send it through a chipper, and a local company hauls the mulch away to be made into wood pellets for stoves.

It's a Win-Win-Win, situation for all and the boys raise enough money to pay for most of the years' scouting activities. It's the only fundraiser Troop 571 needs each year and it beats the heck out of going door to door extorting popcorn sales..

This is my second year helping Troop 571 and my job today was to ride "shotgun" and act as loadmaster. We collected over 500 trees and raised over $12,000.
