Black-bellied Whistling Ducks
The weather continues to go from the ridiculous to the disastrous. 13" of snow in the deep south of the USA; Australia confronting it's worst flood disaster in living memory, with 30 people believed dead and 78 missing in southeast Queensland, and so it goes on. All in all, a dark gloomy day with more record freezing temperatures on the way, is small beer in view of the problems of others. I thought it would be an orchid day today, but I took a few pictures of the whistling ducks, and although it was too dark to get a good flying shot, I managed to lift this one out of the gloom. They were flying about overhead, which tickles me, as they really make the sweetest whistling sound you could hear, like a bunch of kids with penny whistles. Almost certainly orchid day tomorrow!
Sorry, changed the picture; same duck but with companion!
