Opening the window to let the old year out and the new one in

first foots carrying a dram, a lump of coal and a bit of black bun

hanging your calendar facing the wall until the old year is out, is in then turning it around to face the New Year

a hangover

a visit to members of your family you only see once a year but wish you saw more often

Am sure I have missed a few others too...

Thankfully I've no hangover today but I do have a raging throat infection as an excuse for being a lightweight.
Now it's off to Auntie Joan's for me - have a good day everyone, hope there aren't too many sore heads!
