Mossy road sign

I saw this bright green row of luxuriant moss on top of a road sign when I was out for a quick lunchtime walk. The textures and colours in the mosses were beautiful. I did some proof-reading work on a field guide to mosses last year but I have no idea what kind these are - perhaps I ought to consult the free copy of the guide that I was given in return for my help!

I like the mixture of the new bright green capsules and the older brown ones.

I tried to take a few close-ups but the little compact camera was really struggling to focus. I may go back another day with the better camera as it would be great to do a better job of this small community of bryophytes.
