Portree 'Lump' with Folly
We had spotted a nice looking hotel/restaurant over the other side of Portree Harbour called the Cuillin Hills so we popped over this afternoon to try and get a reservation.
The hotel has a cracking garden at the front with a great view overlooking the harbour. Behind the multi-coloured houses and restaurants in the harbour is the peninsula unflatteringly knows as "The Lump", which once provided a spectacular setting for public hangings on the island. It now houses a Folly which affords those that climb to the view point a good outlook over the town and the harbour.
