The battle between marble and glass

Plans changed for today (get well soon wishes to my guests and see you next week) so I thought I would make use of the time by attacking the craft room to turn it back into something I can use, get the blip in early and have an early night. The reality was me falling asleep on the sofa this afternoon, eating a late dinner and not getting round to taking any pictures.

WBC theme this week is Incident and at this late hour I was looking around for something that could be easily staged or recreated when I remembered an incident that happened not long after we moved into Crafty Towers. In a rare moment of me doing the dusting I was cleaning my small collection of paperweights that sat on top of the fire when the unthinkable (but somewhat predicatable) happened and I dropped one of the paperweights. In the milliseconds it took to fall to the floor I have visions of the paperweight smashing into a thousand pieces and having to pick glass out of the carpet r ever more. Amazingly the paperweight was still in one piece with no damage when it landed but it had caught the edge of the solid marble plinth under the fire on it's way down and taken a small chunk out of it and created a crack on either side.

A good lesson learnt, if I need to do some damage with no evidence left at the scene, use a paperweight :-)
