What no ring!

I read on the bilp forum a few weeks ago a fellow bliper that has some, filter adapter rings that where surplice to requirements, he did not want to put them on ebay so offered them to anyone that wanted them. I wanted one of them so we duly exchange emails and it arrived in the post a couple of days ago. What I should say it the envelope arrived but with nothing in it. The faint outline of the ring was evident, but it looked like some one had helped themselves to it. I am guessing it looked like jewellery, so someone thought they would have it. I would imagine they were a little disappointed and it?s probably on the floor of some sort house somewhere. A real shame, a genuine nice selfless act, the kind that puts your faith in humanity, spoiled by an utterly selfish act.
