Friendly Shepherd
We met this shepherd whilst walking towards the mountains in the village. He is a local man and one of the many shepherds here in the village of Esentepe. He had stopped and was letting his herd graze and upon seeing nedim he came straight over to give his best wishes for a speedy recovery. I asked nedim to ask him if i could take some images of him. The first few i took he posed for as thats what most folk do when you say you want to take their picture, but then as he was chatting with nedim i caught some more candid images.
The stick he has he stripped and sanded himself and its made from a lemon tree branch as these are particularly strong, and he has had it for 4 years. The Bag he has on his back he has had for 50years! it is made from the leather of a goat, one piece! not a stitch in sight! But it now has worn at the bottom and so just today he treated himself to a new one. He is waiting for it to arrive from a neighbouring village.
He seemed excited!!
