Mehndi

The mehndi function is when henna is applied to the bride and groom before the wedding day. We (the sisters) spent the whole day decorating the hall we had rented for the day. The venue is very near our place and is situated in the Defence Services Officers Club.

After decorating the place, we went back home to get ready. When we came back, the guests had started to arrive. The mehndi rasam was conducted where all married women come, apply henna to the hands of the bride and groom and then make them eat something sweet (We had M&M's and Sweet Meat for that purpose). Had fun singing songs on the dholki and doing the dandia (its a dance done with sticks in both hands). Later on the boys did a bhangra.

My friend Maliha covered the event and was taking pictures. As I was busy with the function, I did not get a chance to take pictures, Maliha provided me with this picture of the mehndi thaal so that I could upload my blip. Thanks a bunch Maliha. This picture consists of the mehndi thaal which consists of the henna, sweet meat, M&M's and the flower jewelery that the bride wears.

Overall a very good function and we all had alot of fun.
