When I worked in the aviation industry I had to wear ties every day, and I accumulated quite a collection of tie clips with engines or airplanes on them. Now I rarely wear a tie -- the dress code in Bellingham is very casual. A clean pair of jeans will get you through a lot of social events without raised eyebrows -- even highbrow events.
